Love Choices

Love: The meaning of love is an expressional feel of passion, devotion, and
tenderness for someone. This story deals with the sacrifices that are made to give up something that could be sacred possession. I felt Abigail felt this way for Gregory and would risk making a decision that could leave her heartbroken. Gregory could not stand the pain of his love touching another man. Sinbad was only out to make himself happy and didn’t care who was hurt; and the situation left Abigail and Gregory both hurt especially Gregory because Abigail talked to Slug. Abigail felt that having sex with Sinbad was the only way that she could see the love of her life.

Love is blind and sometimes we do anything for love. I give Abigail a three, Abigail was in love with Gregory and from the sound of the story. Abigail would do anything to see Gregory. Abigail put all the respect that she had for herself on the line in order to see Gregory and that is what I mean about people sometimes do crazy things when we are in love. Abigail also had no business talking back to Slug about what had happen with her and Gregory. Slug went and found Gregory and got in a situation that did not concern him. I understand that he felt sorry for Abigail is the only reason he went and fought Gregory. I can understand that Abigail felt like she had no choice but to sleep with Sinbad.

Gregory the love of Abigail’s life didn’t really understand why she made such a bad choice to see him. From Gregory point of view he felt that Abigail was not trustworthy enough for him to take in her love and affection. The thought of Abigail having sexual intercourse with another man made him feel disrespected. In the heat of passion Gregory lost control of his feelings. Based on the actions that he made Gregory will receive a three due to him not understanding Abigail decision.

Sinbad was a manipulative individual that has to have things his way he showed this when he gave Abigail an offer she could not refuse. Sinbad saw how vulnerable Abigail she was and saw her as his prey. He knew that she desperately wanted to get to the other side of the shore. By knowing how Abigail felt he used the meaning of reciprocation. Sinbad was viewed as a self-fish and deceitful person that leads me to giving him a one.

Ivan who was looked at as a close friend to Abigail felt that he should not get involved with Abigail getting to the other side of the shore. I guess he did not want to be held responsible if something happens with Abigail when she gets to the shore. Ivan probably did not want that on his conscious wandering if everything is fine and well. I give Ivan a four because I like how he minded his own business.

Slug on the other hand did not mind his own business. Slug felt that the only way that he could make Abigail happy again was to hurt Gregory. Slug should have been more of a friend by being there whenever Abigail needed someone to cinfide in. I would have to give Slug a three because of the way he went and hurt a man that was only heartbroken. Abigail and Gregory could have one day talked about their broken hearts and could have made a friendship at the end.

Keepin' it Real

In the society that we as Americans live in today is full of different types of discrimination. It can be your skin color, your age or your gender, but the real discrimination starts when you have come to the conclusion that you were born the wrong gender. I personally don't have a problem with what sex you are and if you choose to be with the same sex, that is your prerogative, only God has the power to judge you.
I am a strong believer in the Bible so I do know that it is wrong to date the same sex but again that's only between you and God. Life is really to short to sit around and someone else on type of lifestyle they choose to live.
I have a five year old son that questions me everyday about everything. Kids are really smart today, and observe what goes around them. It will surprise you at some of the things kids can notice even though you think they're too young. I try to speak with my son daily about how to differentiate what is wrong and what is right. I have spoken with him about homosexuality, such as men dating men and women dating women, even though it's wrong, we don't have the power to condemn someone for how to live. I hope that my daily talks will influence as he ventures out in life without me and is able to experience these things with his own eyes. I also hope is open-minded enough to accept him or her as a person and not judge by their sexuality.
Kids today are exposed too so much, and we as parents have no choice but to be upfront with our children and let them know that homosexuality do exist. Homosexuals don't only show up on television or at the store. We live among them, it could be someone as close a relative or even a teacher or community leader.
Though, I'm not saying that I would approve of this person having such an influence over my child, I am able to give that person the benefit of the doubt and allow him or her to do their jobs as long their personal lifestyle doesn't interfere. Basically, to make a long story short we as a people do not have the right or the power to sit back and judge anyone because we all have our own faults.
Everybody has the right to speak their mind. So people are going to say what they want to say and feel how they want to feel. I just feel like people of America need to stop wasting time on things like letting gays teach. We should be more focused on what’s more important. I don’t feel like a gay teacher teaching my child would affect him or her up no more than a straight person. I just feel like everybody deserves a fair chance. We cannot sit back and treat gays like they are just not apart of this world. I have a friend whose father is gay. He is a librarian in Atlanta, Ga. My point, he loves to read, so he has just read about every book there is to read. When kids come in the library they always ask for him to help them out on things like essays or just when they are not understanding a book. He does not discuss his personal lifestyle with them at all and I don’t think that the kids are not curious but it is left a closed subject.

What’s Right

America is my country and God knows I love my country. We have been taught “One nation under God indivisible and justice for all.” This is what brings me to my moral belief of what’s right no matter what.
In my decision terrorists threaten to blow up many of my fellow Americans on an airplane would not to be let convicted criminals go and everything will be okay. Everything would not be okay because we just freed criminals who did not deserve to be freed.
In any situation there can be some kind of preventions and this situation can prevented if we all stick together like we’re supposed to. A good plan would work out great like there needs to be guards everywhere even when we don’t think there are guards around.
In a situation like this we should be on top of everything like checking every passenger before and after getting on the planes. The same with coming in and out of the airport.
The President had to know that something like this could happen if we’re already having problems with other countries, so this is when you start to think about the “what ifs”. Every port of my country from start till end will be guarded to protect each and every life.
This country is big enough and so many people are smart enough that we can come up with so many different ways to serve and protect our country. When criminals come here to do wrong trying to kill or just hurt our people in any kind of way they deserve to be punished. This is where justice for all falls into place.
The meaning of justice means to punish and if criminals come to our country doing wrong, it is right for us to punish them and not let them go and be freed, “you do the crime, and you do the time”. This nation can be so well guarded that another man from another country would be too scared to look or even think about coming here doing some kind of crime.
This country has enough money to where everything that has happen shouldn’t happen. We have loss so many innocent lives for no reason, anything can be prevented and situations like letting convicted criminals go to save some innocent passengers on a plane is one. We do have some good fellow Americans who are willing to guard this country with there life. We as Americans need to get better about our quote “One nation under God”.

Right or Wrong?

Prompt: Right or Wrong

In today's society many of the beliefs that people commit are absolutely inexcusable. My beliefs are totally absolutist. In some cases topics such as the death penalty, homosexuality, any types of discrimination, and especially cases of child abuse when a person should recieve the ulitmate punishment, two wrongs still don't make a right. Although, the "eye for an eye" method has been constantly pushed on society my beliefs and my strong faith in God will not let me believe in any type of corporal punishment. Many people know deep down in our hearts that this is wrong but we feel that justice has not been served unless another life is taken in return.
For example, the death penalty I just really don't understand why this is even considered a punishment. To me it's letting a criminal take the easy way out. I do understand that is dead wrong for a human to take another human life and not face any consequences for it, but at the same time I think other actions can be taken instead of another pointless death. It will not serve any purpose and won't bring the other life back. I do think that maybe sitting in a jail cell the rest of your life given the opportunity to think about what you've done, and having this burden on you everyday would be enough.
Another example is homosexuality, we don't have the right to judge anyone, that can only be done by a higher power. We've all heard the phrase that God did not create Adam and Steve, but this is not something that we can look down on them about who they have chosen to love.
In this country, we especially discriminate against our gay community. We have taken away their right to get married something that most of us take for granted it is that this community has to actually fight for. In some cases it's hard for them to gain employment if their sexuality is revealed, other things such as giving blood or even adopting a child is an obstacle for a gay person.
I think that people should think more of what is right and not about what society thinks.

Immigration In America

Promt: Perception

Immigration in the United States has become an asset and also a liability to. It serves as a viable source to majority of the work force of the nation and also at the same time has uprooted the economy and drained money and benefits from working American citizens.
Our economy is already in debt, we don't have the resources to support illegal aliens. Another reason immigration is hurting society is that foreigners who are not legalized are not paying taxes. The government also don't have the extra money for medical benefits, most American born citizens don't have health insurance.

Jobs are being taken away from American citizens because of the immigrant situation we are experienicing now. Many people in control are aware of the fact that illegal aliens are willing to work for practically nothing and they also learn how to reap the benefits from the government. I myself as an American citizen have to pay taxes to help support this country. For many years America has been built on immigration. In my honest opinion this country wouldn't be the country that we know without the sweat and tears of immigrants. Illegal aliens come to this country looking for a better life. And they realize that America is the best country to make that dream happen. Because we are one of the richest countries of all the contintents, foreigners will go through any means to get here and remain here.

In the years that have passed there have been many problems regarding immigration. We're now with wars, high gas prices as well as other things. I think we should help within our country to build and grow stronger in order to help others. I try not to discriminate but illegal aliens should take the necessary actions to become legalized in our country. If they don't this problem will continue to grow and become worse. Doing it the right way will be the solution to the live the "American dream". They don't understand that the proper documents they will be able to voice their opinions by becoming a registered voter, an American citizen and their children will have the same opportunities as our kids.
This is not the only problem, illegal aliens can come to the U.S. and can commit crimes and then can't be traced or found. They can't be identified by social security numbers either. And because of this they're impossible to find which only cost taxpayers more money. We have not came up with a definite solution on how to solve this problem, yet we have become more dependent on the cheap labor and the limited benefits that they require. While they have formed protest marches for their rights to be citizens. I don't understand how this method will work for them. Firstly, they have entered the country illegally or are still here on expired visas. Even though they may think that they're doing us a favor I think that they are hurting the economy more instead of helping it. As years pass I don't think many non-residents that are living in America will continue to accept the low wages and not having the same rights as regular citizens.
The American government should really stay focused on this topic and make sure that immigrant laws are being practiced and enforced in each state. We should come up with a more amicable solution for both the American citizens and the non-residents we have in our country now.

All About Kenyon

My name is Kenyon Parker, Iam 27 years old, Iwork at Chick-fil-A as a cashier.I have been doing this for 8 years now. I have been at Maconstate for about a year now and have spent most of my time in learning support in math 99.
I really am trying to do my best to focus and just do my best to suceed.I have a five year old son, who I just love so much, and really thank God for. I think my child is what gets me up going everyday because I want him to have a good life.
As of this point at Macon State, I think the real thing is really hitting me now. My major is Criminal Justice, I chose this profession because I still have the opportunity to work with the public which is something I really enjoy. This profession will also give me the chance to hopefully be able to turn a troubled person into a law-abiding citizen.
Currently, I think I'm experiencing what people like to say is "college life". Having assignments and papers due is something I thought I wouldn't be doing at this stage in life, but it's challenging and also very interesting at the same time. It is definitely a big difference from the eight years I've been at my present job. I enjoy meeting and conversing with so many great people. So many customers have become so comfortable with me it's as though we're family. Even though I really do enjoy doing this, it's time for me to make my true dreams happen and I feel like Macon State is the way to achieve this dream. I'm going to do my best and come out on top at the end.
